City Of Bone Book Review

Hey guys! I’m back with another book review for you guys. By the title I think you know what book I’m going to be reviewing.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare is the first instalment of The Mortal Instruments series. It’s the second book I read from my TBR and I’m quite proud I finished this book because it’s been a long time since I’ve read a book this long (its 506 pages for those of you guys are wondering). It’s actually nice to read this book when I didn’t have access to the internet since there was no distractions and I could just focus on the book. I’ll just be honest and say that I watched the movie before reading this book (obviously) and because of that, I actually know what is going to happen and what to expect. At first I thought the movie was really good but now that I’ve read the book, I can understand why some people thought that the movie could be better. There are scenes from the book that I would love to see in the movie but thank god there is the series. Hopefully they don’t cut the scenes that I want to see come to live. Thanks to the movie, when reading this book, I pictured the actors from the movie portraying the characters in the book (I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing).

The book itself is fantastic. It was a drastic genre change from my previous read but it feels nice to be reading a fantasy book. Reading fantasy books makes me feels right at home since my favourite book genre is definitely fantasy books (I grew up reading tons of them). This book is a more of a mature read in my opinion since there are many sarcastic remarks that I feel not many people under the age of 13 would understand. I love it, all the sarcastic remarks and banter that Jace and Clary exchange. It’s a nice change from what I’m used to reading.

I would say that I have high hopes for this book since there are a lot of good reviews online and I am not disappointed. It meets my expectation and maybe even exceeded it. I’m giving this book a 5/5 rating. My next goal now is to save up enough money to buy the second book. Hopefully that would be soon, even though the cliff hanger at the ending is subtle, I WANT MORE.

Girl Online Book Review

Hey guys!

I’m sorry for the no blog post last week but I couldn’t post as I didn’t have any access to the internet for the entire week. But not to worry, I’m back! This blog post is going to be my Girl Online book review (as you could tell from the title)

Girl Online by Zoe Sugg was the first book that I read from the TBR list. Let’s just say that the wait was worth it. This book is AMAZING. I know there are many people and rumours out that are saying that Zoe Sugg used a ghost writer for this book but personally I don’t care. It’s her first ever book and it is quite obvious that she needs people to help her since it’s her first ever book. Let’s be honest you and I would need help if we’re writing our first ever book.

So, moving onto the actual book review. This book is right up my alley. I love the writing style that this book has, it kind of shows us a little bit of the author (you know, since Zoe is a blogger and she experience panic attacks). I related a lot with Penny – who is the main character. Just like her, I’m extremely clumsy and I too experience a fair share of panic attacks incidents. It’s kind of nice to have a character that I can relate too. For me, finding a character that I can relate to is very difficult and having to find one in Girl Online is quite comforting.

I must say, this book is a good read during December/November or Christmas time in general. Most of the mushy mushy scenes that I like in this book happens during Christmas and New Years’ time so it only seems appropriate to read this book during that time. I may also be bias because I read this in December and even though I don’t celebrate Christmas, I felt a lot more festive after reading this book.

In general, I’m giving this book a 4/5 rating. I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book (Girl Online: On Tour). I read the first two chapters of it since I bought the paperback version which has the first two chapters of the sequel. Highly recommend this book, especially for those readers who love the mushy teenage love stuff and for those readers who feels like they are alone when it comes to panic attacks.

New Years Resolution! {2016}

Hey guy and Happy New Years!

I'm usually the type of person who would try and change for the better when a new school term comes around. I'm not really the type who would make New Years resolution just because I know I would not keep them but this year I want to try it out. This year, I'm in my last year of secondary school and if I manage to do well, I wouldn't have to come back next year. What better year than this year to start New Years resolutions?

So here they are; my New Years resolution:
  1. Don't spend so much and safe up money
  2. Study. Study. Study
  3. Workout at least once a week (PE is not included)
  4. Read more
  5. Write more
  6. Socialize
  7. Be more organised
Why these 7 things? Well for no.1, I want to start saving up for university. Even though it's still a long time before I actually would be old enough for university, but I am planning of going overseas for university and I don't want to burden my parents that much (and I want to expand my bookshelves and I obviously need money for books).

For no.2, I have a national exam coming up this year and I determines my next school and weather or not I would be able to graduate. I can't be procrastinating all the time and I actually have to get off my lazy arse and study.

No.3? Well this one something I tell myself I would do every month. In the end I would just get very lazy and not do anything. I'm not a healthy person - I eat all the junk foods, not exercise, and I don't even try to be healthy. This year I want to change things and I'm taking tiny baby steps by promising myself that I would workout at least once a week.

No.4 and 5 are something that I think are very relevant to each other. I want to read more books and I definitely want to write more blog posts and maybe create and finish my own book one day.

No.6 would be confusing to anyone apart from the people who knows me. Basically, I have problems with ANY social interactions. That is one of the reasons why it's difficult for me to make new friends or leave my house. By socializing more, I hope I would conquer this social problem.

And no.7... I want to be more organised. This one is a no brainer. I'm taking art and the course work is crazy (those art students out there would know) and I'm also taking 8 other subjects so I really need to be organised in order to be able to excel in school and have a life.

So that's it. My New Years resolution. Wish me luck with keeping them for a year. It's now forever in the internet and if I don't keep these resolution for a year, it would taunt me for the rest of my life...

Near Panic Attack Incident

Hey guys. This post is something that I don't normally post but I needed to get this off my chest.

I have a grandmother who would be turning 80 real soon and she has been real sick recently. Today, something scary happened. She suddenly felt real sick and sort of collapsed on the floor of her room. This was something really unexpected since this afternoon, she was walking and even visited my aunt for a small get together. The only adult at home when she collapsed was my mum (who has very little knowledge of any medic stuff). Naturally she panicked and tries to keep my grandma conscious. I was the closet to an adult in the house at this point of time so I had to call my extended family and help my mum take care of my younger siblings.

During this entire time, I was panicking on the inside. I had a case of several panic attacks before so I was terrified that I would have an attack. I didn't tell anyone and tried to calm myself down without anyone noticing. That kind of backfired on me because I didn't manage to calm down till I started writing this blog post.

I still have no idea if my grandma is ok or not (my mum called the medic and they took her to the hospital). I might have calmed down a bit but I'm still in panic/shock.

Don't worry cause I have another blog post scheduled on the 3rd - for those who hates this kind of post and wants my normal stuff.
